Tell us if this sounds familiar to you…

You see a solar ad on Facebook. You’ve been thinking it might be time to ditch grid energy, so you click on it. “Might as well see how much it’ll cost me,” you think. “What’s the harm?”

But instead of answers, all you get is more questions. You find yourself looking at a website with no listed price, no easy way to tell what hardware you need, and no option other than to request a call back. It’s enough to make you give up, isn’t it?

Well, what if we told you that there was a way to design your own system – a system that will maximise your savings – in just a couple of clicks? Now, there is!

ShineHub’s all-new ‘Design My System’ tool allows you to create a solar solution that’s tailor-made for your home and power needs. All you have to do is answer a couple of questions and we’ll show you the system that can maximise your power savings. We’ll also give you an accurate price estimate.

And the whole process takes less than a minute! Of course, nothing goes ahead until our experts have double-checked everything and confirmed that the system you’ve chosen is the best one for your home.

How the ‘Design My System’ Tool Works

We’ve got good news for you – this isn’t complicated. Here, take a look at this:

We barely need to explain this. It really is as simple as 1, 2, 3.

But you know what… we’re proud of this tool. There’s nothing else like it out there. So we’re going to tell you how it works anyway! Let us enjoy this as much as you’re about to.

Step 1 – What’s Your Electricity Bill?

The first step is to tell us how much your quarterly bill is. We know, we know… it’s too high! But we need a little more detail than that. So, just use our simple slider to tell us how much you’re usually paying per quarter.

This information helps our System Calculator fine tune the size of the system you’ll need to drastically reduce your power bill.

Step 2 – Where Do You Live?

Next up, tell us what state you’re in. We need this information for a couple of reasons. Firstly, we consider where you live to estimate the amount of sunshine you’ll have hitting your roof throughout the year. We also consider the cost of grid energy in your area and weigh that against your potential solar power production. Then, we look at how much local subsidies and rebates can slash money off the cost of your system. And finally, we consider the local grid limits for your area.

Don’t sweat any of the details here, that’s what the calculator’s for. It’ll work out all that stuff behind the scenes. Just pick the state you’re in and let the algorithm do the work for you. Then you can compare all the systems that will work for your home and decide which one’s right for you!

And of course, once you’ve settled on your preferred solution, our solar experts will double-check everything for you – just to make sure the system you end up with really offers the maximum possible value.

Step 3 – What kind of products do you want?

Finally, tell us what kind of products you’re looking for. If you use most of your power in the daytime, then you’re probably going to want some solar panels. If you use a good portion of your power in the evening, then you’ll want a panel and battery combo.

And, of course, you can choose to add a battery if you already have panels installed in your home.

That’s it – you’re all done. Now all you have to do is click ‘Design My System’.

Your Recommendations

After you’ve answered those three simple questions, you’ll be taken to a page of recommendations. Here’s what that looks like:

Again, simplicity is key. You’ll see the solar solution that our calculator has recommended for you. That recommendation takes into account your energy usage, when you use your power, how much sunshine your roof receives on an average day, the cost of grid energy in your area, and your local rebates. It’s the system that offers you the best possible value.

Want more power? You’ll find a super-sized recommendation indicated by the orange ‘More Power’ tab. You might want to consider this if you’d like total freedom with the way you use your power. Or if you’re planning any upgrades to your lifestyle, like adding air con or a heated pool.

Think you can get by on a little less? There’s a smaller option as well. You can also return to the top and adjust settings and filters as you go to see more options. You’re in total control of this process. After all – it’s your power!

Wondering how best to size your system? You’ll find a video below your recommended systems that will walk you through it. In fact, you’ll find video explainers all across our online ordering system. You might not need help but if you do, just click ‘play’ and let ShineHub founder Alex walk you through the process.

It’s That Easy

So, that’s how it works. Pretty simple, huh? Why don’t you try it out for yourself and see how much you could save on your next power bill… you might be surprised by what you find.

We want to hear what you think about our Design My System tool. Do you like it? Are there areas we could improve? Do you have questions? Let us know by filling out this survey, and we’ll make it even better for you!
